Howzit guys.
This is my home away from home kit.

AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 001-2

Not a bad kit at all...
70 pieces, plus glazing and decals.
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 002-1

Detail is quite nice, the usual new standard from Airfix, but still lots of flash and ejector pins marks..

And the wheels...
The wheels are absolutely shite!. Is this the best solution you could come up Airfix!
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 007-2

Ok then, whats been done so far
Chassis and cockpit floor primed and sprayed

AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 002-1-1-1

bits and bobs inside the cockit painted.
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 003-1-1-1
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 005-2-1-1
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 004-1-1-1

and the wheels...
Mags were painted chrome silver, then I cut out circular masks, covered the mags and painted the wheels rubber black. That's after an hour of cleaning up the wheels...

Ok then, everythings drying off, so time to move on.

Well yes, a nice easy car, but whichever knob designed the decal sheet needs to be shot.
Not a really clever design for them.

Don't tell its one of those all in one decals, that you have to by some miracle drape across an entire kit with micro-millimeter precision??Evil or Very Mad

Those are simply the worst, some bike kits have them - I detest them!! Mad

Anyway, good luck!

Yup, its basically that...
The sides are one big decal, as is the bonnet. The worst is the front around the air intake, that whole front section is one decal... Suspect

Also Airfix a bit arse about face with the decals. Theres no indication in the instructions to show don't fit this bit until the decals are on... as I found out. Apparently the other Fiesta with the Castol decals is a bit easier...

Howzit chaps....

Right then.
The cockpit and all its bits go together very well, all the bits fit but its the usual story with Airfix kits with lots of flash and mould lines to clean up.
For a basic kit, the detail is not bad at all.
Some small detail I added, was the bands around the fire extinguisher with BMF and the straps holding the wheels down. One unfortunate thing tho is that no decals are supplied for the interior.

AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 004-1-1
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 005-2-1

Like I said previously, the wheels are not the best idea on this kit, but after a bit of therapy with the sanding sticks, they can be made to look ok.
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 007-2-1
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 008-2

Ok then.
The Body. Sprayed Tamiya Semi gloss black, then clear coated waited a suitable time and the decaling began.
This kit, in my opinion, isn't one for the young chappies for this simple reason, the decals. I struggled with them!. Its simply because Airfix decided to do the sides, roof and front in on panel and as there are lots of pinstripes on this thing, there's a lot separate lines to get (and keep) straight.
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 010-3
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 009

Ok the camera makes the finish look a bit shite, but promise you it isn't...
I replaced the moulded in intakes with mesh, kept the kit ariels except the centre one, which I made out of rubber tubing.

So windows going in later today and then its a wrap.

Laaaaaater

Right then, next upload.

Windows went in without any drama. Very clever system Airfix have for fitting the windows that basically don require any glue. (although a drop wont hurt).

and finally, wouldn't be an Airfix kit without some drama....
And that's the roll cage. The top of the roll cage interferes with the roof and the windscreen mount so you need to file that down quite a bit until it fits.
And I've just actually noticed that the wheels on the box aren't the same as in the kit. Go figure.

And finally the result.
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 0012-4
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 0022-4
AIRFIX 1/32 FORD FIESTA WRC - FINISHED 0032-2

I think it looks quite nice....

Ok, well this took me what, two weeks to build on and off, couple of hours a night.
Id rate it 7/10 basically for the detail which is not bad, but getting the decals on right is an issue and the wheels suck!.....

Stay tuned for a Monte Carlo Peugeot 206

Steve

Thanks chaps.

The base's are just supawood blanks from a craft shop, with model railway flocking and gravel.
